Pics of proper setups? - 2008/05/04 14:07 Hi all, I am new to hedgies. In fact I do not even have one yet. Am wondering if anyone can post pictures of proper setups. I have seen oodles of pictures of hedgies themselves but not much on cage setup.

Thank you!
Carole

Re:Pics of proper setups? - 2008/05/05 16:37 Hi thank you for the pic! what are those panels and where did you get them? Are they modular? Could I use that to make a larger playpen for when a hedgie is outside its cage?

Thank you,
Carole

Re:Pics of proper setups? - 2008/05/05 23:53 That's a good space for you little friend. I saw that you use clothes for the play ground, I think you should use it when it adult enough to train to poo-poo at the right place first. It's a really really really wise to use wood under the wheel like that picture, because naturally, hedgehog love to run then pooping on the wheel.

I guess you have to clean that cloth for a few months

for the cage that's high from the ground, magically, hedgehog can fly from that cage to the ground so watch out for that

Great Cage!

I think that you are talking about the wall looking thing and not her wheel. It is a room divider that I made out of cubes. When my hedgie came to live with us we just added onto it.

Hi thank you for the pic! what are those panels and where did you get them? Are they modular? Could I use that to make a larger playpen for when a hedgie is outside its cage?

The panels are actually called storage cubes and you can find them at this website:
http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay? storeId=10051&productId=100373111&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&PID=500871&cm_mmc=CJ-_-nextag-_-D23X-_-100373111&cpncode=12-48538184-2&URL=http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/BuildLinkToHomeDepot?linktype=product&id=100373111&cm_mmc=CJ-_-nextag-_-D23X-_-100373111&AID=10368321&cj=true&srccode=cii_9324560

They are really easy to put together and make great cages! My hedgie is not a climber, so I didn't put a top on the cage, but I easily could have. The cubes make a playpen very easily! I have a little playpen that I made for my hedgie when she was a baby and we kept her in a different type of cage (because she was litter box training.) All that you need is some zip ties and you can put the cubes together in a way so that they can fold up.

That's a good space for you little friend. I saw that you use clothes for the play ground, I think you should use it when it adult enough to train to poo-poo at the right place first. It's a really really really wise to use wood under the wheel like that picture, because naturally, hedgehog love to run then pooping on the wheel.

Don't worry Kane! My hedgie is full grown and litter box trained!

Re:Pics of proper setups? - 2008/05/07 15:49 Oh I love C & C cages! I made one for my guinea pig. Here's a link to a site with directions on how to make one : www.guineapigcages.com I bought the storage cubes from target on sale for about $12. The coroplast was only $10, so the cage came out a lot cheaper and way bigger than anything I could buy at a store. I even had left over cubes and made a play pen for Omelette. I used cable ties, like saabgirl suggested. It's very convenient to just fold and store away. I'll try and post pics of my cages. Lisa
