bedding in food dish - 2008/05/14 07:57 Every morning I find bedding in Peanut's food dish. It's not completely buried but there's one or two chunks of carefresh in it. I thought that she was just tracking it in there by accident. Well when she was on fleece liners and not carefresh I STILL found carefresh in her bowl. She pulled off the little pieces that were stuck to her hedgebag. This weekend her bag was clean so she had to improvise and she put her ball in her dish! This just cracks me up. She never ceases to surprise me with all the silly things she does. Becky

Re:bedding in food dish - 2008/05/14 10:35 After ten years of fighting this battle I have learned (with all four hedgehogs and those of my friends) you will never win. They will ALWAYS put something in their food dish and if you take out all bedding and toys then they will poop in it just because they can. I think it's part of their stubborn spirit and now it's one of the things I love about them. Hey if you can beat 'em, join 'em.

Re:bedding in food dish - 2008/05/14 10:46 Maybe they want their bedding to smell like food, and they secretly exchange the bedding that's in there for different bedding, and put the original bedding back where it was. That way when they are sleeping, they are comforted by the smell of food.
Maybe they just want everything to smell like food, because they like food....
