Rescue - 2005/04/21 18:11 Late last night I got an email titled HEDGEHOG FOUND IN ORLANDO. Hmmm....so I read it and apparently someone had been seeing an albino hedgehog in their apartment complex and they finally captured it after several nights of trying. They said it was an albino but I thought cinnacot or cinnamon since it was a brownish color. Turns out it is an albino. Right now after four baths with scrubbing it looks like a pinto. I still cannot tell the sex but the poor thing is quarantined in a storage bin with food, water, and mealies.

I think a student let it go since it was found near a college and it is end of term. I am so mad about the thought that someone let it go. The lady who captured it said she checked around and looked at the local notice boards and no one reported it.

I will keep you updated.

Re:Rescue - 2005/04/21 19:29 Poor thing! So glad that thye were able to catch it, and it now has a good home.
This confuses me though.... "Turns out it is an albino. Right now after four baths with scrubbing it
looks like a pinto." Is it an albino that is still dirty, or a pinto?

Re:Rescue - 2005/04/22 18:39 I think it is an albino that is still dirty. Poor baby. I really loathe to force the poor thing into the sink for more scrubs. I might wait another day or two.

Re:Rescue - 2005/04/27 23:41 How's she doing, Robin? Clean and shiny pink again? It's sad that some human left the poor thing to fend for itself. Kelly Sosik-Hamor

Re:Rescue - 2005/05/01 06:33 Still not clean and shiny pink. I wish it were so easy. I am going to buy some Dawn and try that now. I am thinking she has some type of grease or oil that is on her.

On the plus side she OR HE is eating well, using a bottle, tubing and wheeling. Also when I walk in she does not scurry off to hide right away. She actually watches me first. Sometimes she keeps wheeling and doing her thing and others she just lays down for a bit. Now when I look in on her she will even look at me sometimes as opposed to the beginning when she always pulled her visor quills down and huffed.

Re:Rescue - 2005/05/01 16:50 Poor baby. Hope you are able to get he/she/it cleaned up soon. Have you tried sitting it on a glass dish or whatever to see the underbelly when it unrolls? Poor thing is going to have an identity crisis if you don't figure out what sex it is soon. *grin*

Re:Rescue - 2005/05/06 04:32 Hey no babies, I think she ate them. Oh well. I decided I am not stressing over it and it is for the best.

Re:Rescue - 2005/05/12 18:05 Blanca has nada in the baby dept. She just let loose a torrent of blood and after about 2 hours I got bored watching her and went to bed. She had nada in her cage in the morning so all done there.

Blanca means white.
