Sleeping all day - 2005/06/08 16:25 I have noticed that Spiney Normal Sleeps all day and won't come out of his house until I go to bed.

Should I wake him up during the day and get him more active?

Re:Sleeping all day - 2005/06/09 16:48 That is perfectly normal for hedgehogs. What I would recommend is for you to get him up when you are ready to settle down for the night (to watch tv, play on the computer, whatever) and hold him then. That will help him get used to waking up a bit earlier in the evenings for you to spend time with him. Waking him up during the middle of the day is ok too, but he is more likely to stay active and be willing to be held if you wait until closer to the time that he prefers to get up.

Re:Sleeping all day - 2005/07/15 05:54 Hedgehogs are nocturnal by nature, which means they sleep all day and play all night. Feel free to wake your hedgehog up during the day to play. Expect that he or she may grump a little at first (As I am sure you do first thing in the morning), but you should be able to work through that . After a few mins, your hedgehog will be happy and willing to play with you.
