High calorie supplement? - 2006/12/21 00:14 Hi all,
Well my little girl Lilly is so so tiny that I was wondering if there was any high calorie supplement I could give her. She is about 4-5 mths now and I cant get her over 216 grams. She is such a peanut. She is shaped like a sunken in twinkie. I have been supplementing her with esbilac puppy formula a few times a week. She wont drink Boost, wont eat meal worms, wont eat scrambled eggs. So I was wondering if there were any other suggestions out there for little miss Lilly. Thanks guys

Re:High calorie supplement? - 2006/12/21 12:48 Ferretvite or nutrical (from the vet) work if they like the taste of the malt syrup. They either love it or hate it. A/d science diet from the vet. Cooked chicken or chicken broth.

Or if there is one food she likes out of the blend, give her just that for a few days and then very slowly add another food and see if she eats that. until you find out what she will eat. And when I say very slowly I mean it-I had a full blown hedgie temper tantrum from a girl about that age the other day when I gave her the "wrong" food.

Check out her water situation too-if she is not drinking enough water she may not want to eat.

Hope this helps with the fussy girl

Re:High calorie supplement? - 2006/12/21 13:31 My herbie is small. He is 9 months old and weighed about 230 gm when I last weighed him. He is also picky about what he eats. I give him new foods on a small plate in the playpen so I can see if he likes it or not before putting it in the food dish. I have found I have to give him something new 4-5 times before he will even bother to sniff it. Keep trying with the mealies. Once she gets a good taste of them she will probably love them. Herbie smells them coming and comes to the front of his cage for them now. Cyn and Hedgie Boys
