Liners - 2005/07/15 17:55 Hello everybody, I just got my first hedgehog yesterday, a beautiful female African white belly pygmy. I was wondering since I have used it with my bearded dragons without problems, has anyone ever used liners like the fake grass liners used for balconies?

Best wishes, W

Re:Liners - 2005/07/16 08:09 One of my customers uses indoor/outdoor carpeting for her hedgie and then put his wheel in a medium size tray with shavings for a litter box.

Re:To PR Hogs - 2005/07/21 01:43 Lets see.... His name is William.... something something at this time lives in Michigan for his PhD. Something about on the web page, precious hedgehogs. Something something two bearded dragons named Patrick and Bunuelo. From there, it is all Greek to me. ER, Spanish to me.
It is SO obvious that I could never get a job as an interpreter.

Re:To PR Hogs - 2005/07/21 04:56 Sorry, I wrote in spanish to PR Pogs because they seem to be from Puerto Rico and so am I. I am new here and a new hedgie owner, plus I also own two bearded dragons: Patrick (male) and Buñuelo (female). I am asking for tips on how to take care of hedgies, Yuisa is a female african white-bellied and she is abot one year old, she is a bit timid but does not bite. Right now she is on top of my bed in a large/shallow plastic container eating peanuts and mealworms. How can I get her to open up more. When I pick her up she rolls up un a ball and starts making noises and her heart rate increases, after a while she calms down but if I dare more she rolls up again, I am hoping that even though she is a year old she can still become friendlier. Should I buy a carrier and take her with me so she gets used to me?

Thanks for any input.

Re:To PR Hogs - 2005/07/21 16:20 I would cancel the peanuts from the treat menu, personally. They have been known to lodge in the roof of a hedgehogs' mouth from time to time, and be a major problem.
Instead of taking her with you places, I would recommend just having her out as much of the time as possible when you are home and sitting still. Some hedgehogs get motion sick, and trust me, cleaning up hedgehog puke out of a carrier is NOT how you want to spend your day. With enough patience and pleasant attention, she may still relax and become more friendly even if she isn't a baby any more. Good luck with her!

Re:To PR Hogs - 2005/07/25 07:42 Thank you for your input, I will keep my eye on her just in case I see anything else abnormal.
