Classroom Pet - 2005/07/20 13:27 She was a classroom pet most of her life, so now everything scares her. She is doing better I take her out daily and let her wonder but do they ever stop putting their quills up when you come to take them out? If i sit and wait for a long time she will put them down but if i try to touch her they come back up, I almost always have to be holding her or she seems to "forget" i was handling her, some days are better than other. thanks

Re:Classroom Pet - 2005/07/20 16:43 Many hedgehogs definately can get to the point where they rarely raise their quills. However, with your hedgehog, after a lifetime of being ignored most of the time and probably not so positive interaction from time to time, may be harder to convince than others. Sounds like she is showing promise though, so I would just keep being patient and spending lots of time with her, and I would say that her behaviors will improve. Possibly never to the point where she is completely 100% comfortable with people, but then again, she may. Good luck!
