How did you get involved in the crazy world of hedgehogs? i actually came upon my first hedgie at work (petco). a gentleman came in wanting to get rid of her, and i decided to take her off his hands. i had been looking into getting a hedgehog for a while but didn't really no all that much about them. so that day i grabbed the only hedgehog book off the shelf and read like there was no tomorrow! but when i got home, i thought it might be a good idea to find out some more things. i did a search and came upon HHW. it has since then been feeding my ever growing hedgehog obsession!

How did you get involved in the crazy world of hedgehogs? I saw a picture of one on someone's site and I thought it was adorable! So I searched more pictures and discovered that people keep them as pets. I was extremely excited! I'm a huge animal lover and I really want a hedgehog now, so I've been researching them a lot lately. Probably won't be getting one until Septemberish though.

I fell in love with the pictures of hedghogs on cuteoverload and then progressed to falling in love with the various hedgehog videos on youtube. I then began to research hedgehog ownership and stumbled upon this website and then found Stasi in Maryland and I filled out the questionnaire. It has been a wonderful journey and I am totally in love with my hedgie. And Stasi has been the greatest.

My mammalogy teacher at my highschool used to own a pet store and told us about all of the creatures he used to have. He helped me get some basic knowledge about hedgehogs and gave me tons of books to read and it's been love ever since.

How did you get involved in the crazy world of hedgehogs: Well...about three and a half years ago I was bored and asked Mom if she could think of something for me to do, I had also been wanting a pet for a year or so but couldn't think of one that the cats wouldn't eat and wasn't a ferret (I wasn't so sure about the smell). Mom gave me a book she had gotten at a book sale somewhere that was about pet African pygmy hedgehogs. I remember my reaction when she first got it was "What's the point of getting a book on African pygmy hedgehogs? It's not like we'd ever have one." oh how wrong I was. Anyhow, I was bored so I read it even though I thought there wasn't much point, and became fascinated about the little creatures, even better, there was no way the cats would eat a walking spike ball! So after thinking and research, I got Aragorn. And that is basically my story, it's weird to think that I wouldn't have gotten into hedgehogs if my mom hadn't gotten that book.
Pets:
Timmy (M, neutered) and Smokey (F, spayed) the maine coon and something else rescue cats.
Aureus (Unknown, called He) the goldfish.
Pepper (F) and Briar (M) the hissing cockroaches.
4 Minnows, rescued from being live bait.

How did you get involved in the crazy world of hedgehogs? I used to live in PA and I wanted a flying squirrel but my room mates were not thrilled with that idea. When I moved to MD I went to get one and found out they were illegal in most of the country. On all the webpages of exotics hedgehogs are also listed and I thought they were sooo cute. Plus I like things that aren't too clingy and a hedgehog is perfect!

Ok, my name is Jo and I live in Rich Hill, MO with my husband and 3 of my children(A fourth will be joining us sometime in early January) I got our first Hedgie, Angel, for my then 5 year old daughter who wanted a hedgie after someone came to her school and showed her class one of these "strange" creatures. We are now up to 3 adult hedgies including the one I found for my oldest daughter. The 2 newest I have successively bred(MUCH to my surprise I found out Morning Star had had herself 2 babies the other day) The proud daddy is Mace. All 3 of these hedies I am proud to say I bought from HedgehogValley's Tig.
