Annoying habit... - 2008/04/18 21:00
I've had my hedgehog for 2 weeks now and he was 8 week old when I got him. He's wonderful in every way but there's one thing that's getting quite obnoxious. Every time I take him out, he poops and pees on me. He very rarely goes in his cage. I'm trying to litter box train him (and put his poop in the litter after he goes) but it doesn't seem to be working at all. I've tried putting him in the litter box as soon as he starts going, but that doesn't do anything either. It would be one thing if he just pooped and peed right away so I could clean up and be done with him, but he'll poop randomly for about 10 minutes and usually pee twice during that period. I'm having to hold him in a towel at all times because I never know when he's going to go.
I was told this was just because he's young and that he'll outgrow it, but does anyone else have any advice or suggestions? His "habit" is not winning him points with my fiance.
