I can ship into any large airport that has planes large enough to have a climate controlled area to store the hedgehogs. I think you\'d probably be looking at Newark airport, and I could get a direct flight. Continental just raised their rates, so you would be looking at $200 for the flight, carrier, and vet cert, in addition to the cost of the hedgehog.

Probably it would be cheaper for you just to drive to either mass or NH to get your hedgie. This way you could meet the breeder, and get to pick out your baby personally. Also I would think that the cost of gas to get from NJ to MA or NH would be cheaper then the $200 dollars to ship. I had to drive 2-3 hours to get my hedgie. It is normal to have to travel a distance to get one.

and cheaper still to drive to MD - you\'d only be looking at 100 miles each way (that\'s typically less than a two hour drive)

Healthy now but no knowledge of the parents means that your friends hedgie could one day develop WHS.
Also, having handled a petstore hedgie here in town before having Ava I see a HUGE difference in personality.

How bad is WHS and are there cures for it?

    Re:N.J Breeders

I\'m sorry if I\'m assuming too much, but it\'s really starting to sound like your motives for getting a hedgehog aren\'t the best. WHS is deadly and is not curable. There are many downsides to buying a hedgehog from a pet store. There is more likely going to be health issues, more possibility of disease in the future, if female, there is a chance that she could be pregnant. Then there is much more of a chance that the personality of the hedgehogs won\'t be nearly as good. Then you also won\'t most likely have the support after purchas like you would from a breeder. This is a little blurb from my site about pet store hedgies:

Well, 1st of all pet stores HAVE to be USDA licensed to sell hedgehogs. Most pet stores get their hedgehogs from dealers. In order for the breeder to make money selling to dealers, they have to mass produce hedgehogs. These breeders are equivalent to a puppy mill. So these hedgies are often not pedigreed, over bred, malnourished & unproperly cared for. This results to unhealthy & often diseased(including genetic) animals. Many hedgehogs can carry genetic, often fatal diseases, so that\'s why the pedigrees are so important!
