[QUOTE=Quillbert;35773]but I ended up with super mealies which scared me especially after reading that if not chewed properly can eat through the insides of the hogs- I have been cutting the heads off but he doesnt seem interested in that idea, /QUOTE]

SUPER WORMS are the ones you have to cut the heads off of. They are evil carnivores biting little beasts.

GIANT MEAL WORMS or SUPER MEALIES are meal worms that have been given a chemical to keep them in the worm stage so they grow bigger and don't turn into beetles. I would avoid them.

I breed my meal worms in a single container, no separating. The worms or beetles will eat some of the dead pupa and the rest just turns to dust. I don't worry about it.

I think giant mealworms aren't given chemicals. There are just giant mealworms and a regular mealworms. Those giant mealworms are those who can't reproduce with an egg. It's like in people, there are some difference in people's appearance and there are who cannot give birth, and in worms, these will be the giant mealworms.

Here is a QUICK reading for you monmon! They are treated with Insect Growth Hormones to stop them from growing! These guys sell them by the thousand, so im pretty dang sure they know what they are talking about!
    http://www.nyworms.com/giant_mealworms.htm

In the second sentence it clearly states why they are larger! which in turn would make them less sought after by us, because we don't want to feed our hedgies some unknown chemicals/hormones/or what-have-you's!

Heres another site if you don't wanna believe that first one!

In the fourth section labeled "Mealworms" It says to avoid Giant or Super Mealworms, as they are treated with growth hormones!
