just tired? normal behaviour for being tired?
would you say it's normal behaviour for my hedgie to be less active tonight than usual after being at the vets today. . .he's not lethargic he's just not doing much. . .like he's not constantly going to sleep or trying to hide/slumping or being apathetic he's just not exploring as much as normal and hasn't been on his wheel.. .he's eaten though. i'm hoping it's due to him being at the vets earlier and therefore he's a bit tired because he's not had anywhere near as much sleep as normal.
I'm really hoping it's that
it's just the vet gave me some worming stuff for him and I'm just hoping it hasn't made him feel unwell. . . he's just walking around eating a bit and then just standing or sitting in the same spot for a while. . .he's definitely warm enough because it's absolutely boiling in here (due to the vets advice that his temperature might be dropping a little at night. . .going to the exotics place he suggested tomorrow to get even more heat producing stuff to put in his cage. . .he's only got a heat pad at the moment)
i've currently got him in my tshirt too because last night he seemed to really enjoy being in there for a nap. . .i think he's still a bit under the weather. . .as I said in a previous post the vet offered me antibiotics but he said he didn't feel they were necessary but was willing to give me them if I wanted him to have them. . . he's suggested lots of improvements to his living arrangements and he's made the antibiotic prescription available to the on call vet so he would get the correct dose if I need it out of hours.
he sounds like he's thirsty. . .like he keeps making a little noise with his mouth but he doesn't seem to want to drink. . .
i do think he is genuinely tired though because he was in his bed and he stretched his whole body and then went back to sleep a little while ago. . . I'm just worried about going to sleep and leaving him but I have to be up for work at 5 (I'm on an early so I wont be gone long and my mum will be here to ring the vet if there seems to be a problem.)
it would make sense for him to be tired because he has been awake all day but I'm just really worried about him with him not being well recently
update: he's just had a really long drink when I placed him next to his water bowl and he's now on his wheel but running at about half speed. . . I don't want him to tire himself out even more and actually cause exhaustion but I don't want to stress him out by removing his wheel. . .I am assuming he will stop running as soon as he feels tired. . .he's acting normal like wheeling for a bit, having a snack, wheeling, having a snack but he's doing it slower than normal and just pottering about instead of running around his cage like he normally does.. . he sat down in the middle of the cage for a while without doing anything too. . .but I guess he wouldn't be eating or drinking if he was unwell. . .it's just after all this with his sneezing I feel like I should be concerned even though I know he should be tired. . .
thanks for reading my paranoid ramblings
He is probably tuckered out from the busy day! As well, he may be feeling a little nauseous from the car ride and the medicine. I would say let him take it easy tonight, if he wants to snooze, let him. If he is still acting off tomorrow, then I would be more concerned.
he seems all right now thanks for the reassurance
