Hi Kayla-what is Roxy eating for food and treats and is she eating her food well? She may be doing it because she is not getting enough nutrients.
Hiya! I'm a new owner of my dear baby girl, Roxy. She is 11 weeks now, but I've noticed she has an odd... issue.I have caught her eating her poop about four times in the last few days. I can't seem to find any information on why she is doing this. Does anyone know why she might be doing this?
Thanks!
~Kayla

Some small animals eat their feces as part of their diet like hamster and rabbits. But I don't know if it's normal on hedgies. Maybe it's what CThogs said, it's on the food.

Is she just eating it or is she trying to spread it on herself as well?
If she is trying to spread it on herself: She is doing it as sort of a camouflage. It probably means she is feeling insecure. Where is her cage located? How loud is it? Are there any birds, dogs, or other loud animals near it? What type of hut or hiding spot does she have?
Solution: move cage to a quieter spot. Add another hut or blanket to hide under/ in.
Eating but not spreading it on herself: Either a diet or digestion issue.
Solution: Change to a better food. Some of the breeders here sell their food mix, try ordering one of those.

Thanks for the responses! I tried giving her some mushed carrots and she ate them just fine. Since I fed her those, she seems to leave her poop alone. Our vet said it was most likely nutrition too, so it fixed our problem. Well, I hope so at least! But thank you again!
