    Still hungry hedgie :excited:

    Hi hedgie lovers
I´ve got some funny problem (or serious?)
I have my hedgie 2 weeks and he´s old ´bout 2moths. I´ve fed him at first days wet cat food (about 5small balls) 3-4 harder cat granules and about 5-7 meal worms when we´re playing.
Now he waking up thru day 2-3 times and looking for food in his bowl, when we´re playing still searching food, bite my zip, nuzzle blanket etc... so I feed him 3 times a day in smaller amount now(banana, apple or granules), giving him mealworms when we´re playing and in th evening give him bigger dinner(wet cat food, chicken or hard-boiled egg).
Is that okay? I dont want to overfeed him, but he wants!
PS: he´s too hyperactive still running on wheel or in room - so I hope he wont be obese

IMO, you should get rid of the wet cat food completely and rely solely on a mixture of dry cat foods. You should also let your hedgehog free feed unless it is obese. Hedgehogs like to eat throughout the night while you are sleeping. Your hedgehog is young and requires nutrition to grow. If you continue limiting the food you may end up stunting growth and with an under nourished hedgehog.

I agree with Kelly. Main diet should be all of the dry cat food that they want, as in, put a dish in there and keep it filled. The wet cat food is ok as a treat if you wanna give it to them, but shouldn't be used as a main food. Same thing with fruits and mealies. As a treat, they are ok, but they are NOT adequate as a main food source. Babies need plenty of food to help them grow and keep them healthy. By restricting their food, or giving them such a high percentage of foods that don't meet their needs, you are potentially causing problems with their growth and or health. Obesity is not something that you should be worrying about with a baby of this age.

Great thank yu a lot I thought wet cat food for kittens are the best for lil hedgie. So I will change it for dry food, can you advise me some good brand? Purina? Now my baby eats brand BRIT(it has less fat which I found in shop).
(and can I stay with mealworms, fuit, eggs, yes?)

I recommend a good mix. Some of the breeders here sell their mixes.

It is normal for babies to sleep a lot. And it is completely normal for a hedgehog to be sleepy during the day and run on their wheel all night. As long as he is eating and drinking ok, and his belly is warm to the touch, I wouldn't worry too much. He might be going through a growth spurt now that he has the nutrition to do so. Some babies are sleepier when they are getting ready to grow.
