Thread: Shoeboxes!

    Shoeboxes!

So I put a shoebox in with Stanley to serve as his "cave" the only problem is that it's too light, is there any safe why to increase the boxes weight? I've looked everywhere in the house trying to find a much heavier shoebox but I haven't had any luck. Also, are shoeboxes safe to use?

Shoeboxes should be fine to use for hedgehog houses. They are light weight, and he may shove it all over his cage until he gets used to it, but he may do that no matter how heavy it is. Is that why you are wanting to make it heavier? To keep him from moving it?

Yes. Exactly that, though now I'm fine with him moving it around, he doesn't seem to move more that a couple of inches.

Once he gets used to it, he probably will quit moving it. However, that doesn't mean that he won't have the occasional tantrum and throw it all over his cage. Hedgehogs are fun like that. :-P

I know what you mean! I saw him throw one earlier today, he first moved it a couple of inches forward so he could get behind it then he pushed it all the way to the other side of the cage hahaha

Shoe boxes, kleenex boxes, small cardboard boxes can all be used for playtime or as an additional hiding spot. You may have to cut off flaps or make a doorway, but it can give your hedgie some different things to explore
