Since when did you bought her? From what I understand here, both of you are just new with each other (especially her). It takes time to have her trust, trust isn't something you get easily you know. You need to be more patient. To start with picking her up, use a used clothes or blanket/gloves (stayed under your pillow for over a night), but I'd prefer the used clothes. If she keeps on scaring you, well it's because you're also scared of her quills poking your hands. While picking her up, you need to be calm and strong, don't be shocked everytime she hiss and tries to get you with her quills. Also, the most important part there to get her trust is quality time. Handle her everyday, play with her, pet her, HAND FEED her (that's what I always did because I can't have quantity time for my hedgies because I'm a student, and you know what, my hedgies trust me!). After all this hard work, you'll both be enjoying both presence and everytime your hedgie's with you, I'm pretty sure she'll be happier.

Hand feeding treats to a hedgehog should be done with caution. Some hedgehogs will start nipping at fingers because that is where treats come from. Other than that, I agree with monmon. Patience, stubbornness, patience, patience, did I mention patience? Just stick with it!

When I hand feed, I don't really hold the treats with my bare hands.. I just carry the hedgies and place the dish with the treats in it near their face so they could just dig in the dish.. I don't want my finger to be next on their menu..

Like said before just spend time with her
You can take some fleece and use that to pick her up so her quills wont hurt you. Then even let her hide in it while you play on the computer, watch tv, read. By doing this your letting her know that your safe.
Also handling at night should make her less of a grump. :3
    Good luck

Go to our articles section and read up on socializing the grumpy hedgehog and some of the other ones there. They cover the topic pretty throughly.
