    Travel question.

So I am going to be visiting some family in CT for a week and I thought about bringing Reia along with me. I know she can stay home with my roommate who would take good care of her, but I also want to bring her along for some of my family to see, because they can't seem to believe I have a hedgehog. It's only a 6 hour drive, so it shouldn't be too bad, but I know some hedgies get car sick and it's normal. Reia tends to get car sick too, so I was wondering if there is anything I can do (besides limiting how much she eats before going) that could help her with the ride, if not, should I just leave her home with my roommate?

You could try a couple of short car trips and see if she gets more used to being in the car. I'm not sure if it will help or not but it may help you decide

The last time I took a trip, she did perfect on the way to my destination. That was about an hour and a half drive. My roommate was driving and I was holding her travel cage, and I was holding it like I was holding and open cup of coffee (haha!) so that every bump we hit wouldn't shake the poor thing. On the way back, it was dark, so I think it was a little harder, and she was sick then, but she also had food before the ride back home. Wasn't sure if maybe it had something to do with food, or not, and I was thinking of putting her in her snuggle pouch around my neck while I drove so that sitting in the passenger's seat would bump her around too much.

I'm still debating it, just didn't know if anyone had some tips for a car ride. Thank you Ann!

Well, if she has done an hour and a half trip with no problem, she may do a longer trip just fine. It could have been the food in her stomach that made the difference. There are a lot of hedgehogs who do travel well so if it is a trip you make a lot, you may want to bring her.

Wonderful. I can't say I make this trip too often, as it is a 6 hour drive for me, but I do go down for a week so I can see most of the family. I thought it would be a good idea to bring her in case I can't find someone to look after her, and to show her off a little I will limit her food a few hours before and have plenty of water ready for her. Thanks so much Ann.
