Winston is at the vets, waiting for xtrays. He's still having labored breathing and she isn't sure why. She did say his heart sounded good, his abdomen felt fine, and his color was good. When she went to weigh him, he decided to relieve himself (both #1 and #2), which I was glad to hear. So, just waiting on the call from the vet.

poor baby has pneumonia. He'll be on antibiotics for 10 days (yay) and then back for a follow up on 5-19.

so do I. He can't have his wheel for at least a week, I doubt he'll want to run anyway (at least the next few nights). She said he was hydrated and didn't feel any abnormalities while he was sedated. So, need to make sure he's eating and drinking and of course the medicine. Tonights went pretty well, but he's hating me right now. Well, that's 1 down, 19 more to go.

We've noticed that Winston isn't eating much of his kibble probably cause it takes too much energy to crunch it up. He's been eating chicken baby food with each dose of medicine (about 1 teaspoon twice a day). We've tried softening his food, crushing his food into smaller bits, and mixing the smaller bits with the baby food, and he won't eat it. So, could we give him canned cat food? Not to substitute his dry kibble but to enable him to each something "easier" when we are at work or in bed.

Nevermind, he won't eat the wet cat food we bought.

If you think the medicine is upsetting his stomach, you can try a little bit of yogurt or small animal benebac (beneficial bacteria) that you get at the pet store. I've had their appetite improve a bit using those.

I'll give that a try in the morning. I really think it's the lack of energy to crunch it up. He has no issue with the baby food, but stiill he only eats very little of it. He is also drinking a lot of water and I don't think he's drinking as much when we're at work or in bed. We tried the wet food, wet food with salmon oil, softened dry food (chicken broth/water), softened dry food with salmon oil, and he turned his nose up at it all. Although he did lick up some of the juice from the wet food. I placed a call to the vet, and waiting on her to call me back. I'm wondering if the decrease in appetite also relates to the inactivity. Since he can't run, he doesn't need to eat as much. What do you think? My boyfriend takes my theory further and suggested that since he doesn't have his wheel and doesn't know when or if he'll get a wheel again, he's depressed and that is contributing to him not eating too much.
