How long until quill loss stops with mites?

Martin was treated for mites with two drops of revolution a little over a week ago and I've noticed he is still losing many quills and is scratching a good bit, not to mention lots of dandruff. He also still is missing fur around his eyes, I can't tell if he's lost any more. He is eating and drinking well and running on his wheel and his stool looks good and healthy. But the continuation loss of quills is really worrying me, I change his cage liners daily and I am still finding 10 to 15 lost quills daily.

How long should it take before he stops losing quills? Is there a general time frame when a hedgehog gets over mites? I'm just worried it could be something else like ringworm because he has not seemed to improve. But I know he had mites, I did the test on black paper and saw them crawling around.

Should I give him another drop of revolution?

You guys are my only true security thank you so dearly <3
I’m new at the whole hedgehog thing so I tend to fret and have lots of questions. I really adore my rescue hedgehog, Martin <3 In fact, I tend to refer to him as Prince Martin. :^)

It is too early to give another dose of revolution. One dose usually will take care of it but not always. The second dose would be given about a month after the first. Dry skin is very common in hedgehogs even without mites so if you see "dandruff" that is nothing to be really concerned about. If he is itching you can give him an oatmeal bath and that may help. If you have not cleaned and sanitized the whole enclosure, I would do that as well if you are concerned. That may speed up the process if there were some mites not on the hedgehog. If he does not have other symptoms, I would not worry. The whole process of losing quills was set in motion when he first got the mites and it does take a while for it to stop completely in some hedgies.

One more thing-vets can usually detect ringworm with a blacklight. It is a simple test if your vet has the equipment and you're still concerned

Thank you very much for the reassurance. I'll be giving him an oatmeal bath tonight to help with his skin. I've throughly cleaned everything in his cage and everything he's come in to contact with. Thank you very much.

I'm a little hesitant to visit the vet so soon again because although I checked before getting my hedgehog that they said they were knowledgable about hedgehogs when I actually did go I waited for 3 hours and they honestly seemed to have no clue whatsoever. He is definitely losing more quills than before even to the point of losing 10 or so during the short periods he is out walking on my bed. What are other possible causes of quill loss? I can't seem to kind anything other than ringworm and it is hard even for me to find the list of symptoms of ringworm in hedgehogs. I'm becoming worried now that he is losing so many more.

If you bathed him, that loosens up any quills that were ready to fall out so if he lost a lot after the bath, that's probably why.
