    Bananas?!

Is it alright to just give my hedgehog a slice of fresh banana?

Banana is a binder, i would either balance it with some apricot (which is a blower) or just stay away completely.

Fruits and vegetables in small (less then dime size...... and hard veg needs to be cut up tiny tiny) portions are ok in general. They provide some fiber, but I don't know that the hedgehogs get much else from them. You just need to be aware of the effect they have on the hedgie pooper.

Hedgehogs won't always try new foods right away. Sometimes you have to introduce them a few times.

Well, my one hedgehog Spikey LOVES banana--it is like the uber treat for him. I limit the amount--very small amounts and not too often. He goes CRAZY for it. My other hedgie does not like it at all. It has never caused any problems for Spikey but again, I have to be the one limiting the amount otherwise he would eat way too much LOL.
