Thread: Caveat Emptor?

    Caveat Emptor?

I found and add online from a breeder who appears to be moving on to other interests. They have generously offered to send me a new friend for free, wanting to make sure that it goes to a good home. They have promised to send the Hedgie with the following.

    Health guarantee
    Vaccine record
    Registration papers
    Nutrition supplement
    Traveling Crate

I have offered to pay for the transport. (The least I can do for such a nice offer) It sounds like it will cost $100 for shipping, is this typical?

I have never done anything like this and I am not sure what is normal. Does anyone know Chris Meg (chrismeg83)? This seams a bit to good to be true so I wonder, are their any questions I should ask to avoid trouble? Will I need to do anything special when it gets to my home that I wouldn't do otherwise?

    Thanks so much!

It does seem to good to be true to me. Hopefully, someone else has heard of her and can offer you more guidance.

Never heard of them either. If you are in doubt don't send money-at least not yet

I think we are leaning away from it. We googled her username and found it associated with four different addresses, as well as Yorkshire terriers and bulldogs. We also tried calling the number on her add and it was not a working number. After reading a bit on internet about pet scams it is beginning to sound a bit textbook...
It's a bummer because we are really excited to get a hedgehog. On the bright side we wont be getting scammed, and it look like there are some awesome and reputable breeders here.

Well, better to wait and get an actual hedgehog than to be taken in by a scam. I have seen more scams lately in the hedgehog ads. Never hurts to be cautious
