So I got my new baby on Thursday:
I named her Marisol!
Poor baby is quilling like crazy so she's been stressed in her new home but I think she is holding up okay under the circumstances.
I let her rest for a while yesterday when we got back. I did take her out for a few minutes before bed. I let her crawl around on a blanket and held her with it as well. She's still very nervous so she huffed and puffed and carried on but eventually she came around.
She was on her wheel last night! It's very quiet but I did hear it before I fell asleep. I'm going to assume that's a good sign. I believe she ate just a tiny bit of food but I'm not sure about drinking water...I may put a bowl in for her tomorrow.
I held her this morning for about 40 minutes and she was relaxed enough for me to use bare hands, so that was positive. Obviously, she is still pretty jumpy. I took her out again tonight and once she relaxed I let her walk on me for a bit.
It looks like we're going to be okay working through her quilling. I am being as gentle as possible but I am encouraging her to get used to me as long as she seems to be relaxing while doing so and not getting too stressed. I'm surprised she's as outgoing as she is with all that's going on!
Anyway, it's about time for me to go to bed which means it's probably about time for Marisol to be out and about.

She is very sweet.I was a bit worried for a couple days since she hadn't eaten but then one night when she was particularly grumpy, so I put her away and suddenly heard the crunching of tiny kibbles! It's hard to be friendly when you're hungry, I'm sure. Of course, when I got her out the next morning her mood was much improved! She let me hold her for quite a while with her quills flat back. It's really exciting to see her making progress and relaxing. I'm so glad she seems to be adjusting well.
