    Question Stinky Faced Hedgie

hey everyone! gotta a question about smelly hedgehogs. my one hedgie seems to always have a stinky face. I bathe her once a week when the bedding needs changed and wash her face (which she likes to have done) yet no matter how many times I wash her she smells. what she smells like is a dirty vag. Sorry to gross anyone out but thats what her face smells like. what can cause a smelly face on hedgies?

ummm....interesting description... I would check the food you are feeding-fish foods are smellier than chicken and turkey based foods. Also, check your hedgies mouth and teeth if you can because that may be where the smell is coming from-there may be a tooth problem.

Her food is made with organic chicken. Her mouth and teeth appear fine. No abrasions or broken teeth.

Another thing I've noticed after washing her face a few times the smell is coming from her ear...could it be that she has an ear infection??

Ear infections can smell quite strong. I would take your hedgie to the vet so the vet can do an examination of her ears and face.

    Keep us posted!

Yes she could have an ear infection-the strong smell coming from the ear is not normal so I would get it checked out at the vet
