    Question Dry/ Flaky Skin

    Hey guys,
One of my females (the grumpy one) has really flaky skin, but I have never seen her skin like that before. Now that I am writing this I do remember her scratching more than normal. I just gave her a bath with oatmeal and aloe vera shampoo. Do you think this shampoo should help her? If she still seems itchy in a few days should I give her another bath or wait longer? I know giving too many baths is not good for their skin.

    Thank you!!!

See how she is in a few days. This is the worst time of year because the heat in the house dries out the skin. Once we get into spring and summer it should be better. If it didn't help and she is still scratching a lot you can use just oatmeal or a couple of drops of olive oil in a bath and that should moisturize better than the shampoo

I always use Aveeno baby soap with oatmeal. It helps with dry, itchy skin and wont hurt if it gets in their eyes.

Aloe Vera IS NOT a moisturiser - should not be used as such. I foolishly believed advice similar to the above and RUINED my skin. I have had to seek specialist help to restore it. Never had red/blochy/dry skin before in my life. Aloe vera should only be used as soother for burns etc.

Just to clarify, I used an organic, pure version, no additives.

Sorry to hear you had problems with aloe. It she sounds like she was using pet oatmeal and aloe shampoo, not straight aloe. Either way I don't think either would help dry skin too much
